IITs are said to be the best for engineering. But unfortunately IITs avail only 9,885 seats in 17 IITs all over India. These approximately 1,000 seats are not enough for 9 lakh candidates that apply for engineering every year.
The second best choice after IIT is NIT. The entrance exam for both is same and JEE Main is alone enough for getting into NIT.
JEE Main 2017
JEE Main or Joint Entrance Examination is the entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate engineering courses in all NITs. It is the first level exam and takes place before JEE advanced.
JEE Main 2017 will be held in the month of April and the application process has already started from November 2016. All you have to do is to register for the exam and start preparing.
After the exam, JEE Main results are declared in April itself. After the declaration of results, fill up the form of admission for NIT.
Fill your order of preference of the institutes and lock the choices. Now attend the counseling and a seat will be allotted to you as per your rank and marks.
JEE Main is said to be one of the most conventional ways to get into the NITs. However, JEE Main is a tough exam and hence you must prepare well.
Getting admission in NITs is definitely not a cake walk, but once you get into it, they are worth the fight.
Why NITs?
NIT or national institute of technology is considered as the second best institutes for engineering after IIT in India.
Every year about 10 lakh students appear for JEE Main, the entrance test for NITs, against only 5306 seats in 29 NITs. JEE Main 2016 results have been announced on June 23 and more than 2 lakh candidates qualified the exam this year. So you can surmise how bright the institutes are, that tons of candidates apply in this.
NIT is considered as the best option for those candidates which qualifies JEE Main but fails to qualify JEE Advanced. The reason being JEE Main score is alone enough for applying in NIT. There is no need to apply for JEE Advanced.
