IIT Delhi – Web 3.0, Social Media and Metaverse

Similarly firms which are in traditional business lines, are getting heavily disrupted due to how these technological platforms are changing the way firms do business. Firms need to strengthen their presence online by managing their digital presence in search engines, social media and e-commerce platforms. Firms would need a taskforce that caters to these changing needs. The current techno-functional course caters to these needs of the industry by creating trained professionals who can cater to the pressing manpower needs of this digital ecosystem.

About the Programme
The internet ecosystems are evolving very fast. In India only there are 600 million users who use these digital platforms and there are many industries which service the needs of the internet ecosystem. In the era of digital transformation; Web 3.0, Social Media, and Metaverse (in the near future), are the integral pillars in this internet ecosystem. For a professional who would be keen to understand how firms in the digital era should develop their internet presence, they should be well versed to understand these pillars. Industries like e-commerce and digital marketing firms are heavily dependent on this ecosystem.

This Online Certification Programme is launched with TimesPro

The first pillar of this internet ecosystem is the Web 3.0 ecosystem. The Web 3.0 ecosystem consist of the search engine ecosystem and the semantic web. This ecosystem is decentralised, and connects a very large network of content that is increasing very fast. Firms need to create a strong digital presence online so that potential stakeholders can reach them by leveraging on this larger semantic ecosystem that has search engines, proprietary websites of firms, ecommerce platforms and other platforms which co-create value for the users through user generated content. A lot of advanced artificial intelligence powers these platforms. A professional catering to the digital ecosystem needs to understand how these platforms operate and the technological artefacts at the background.

The second pillar of this internet ecosystem are the social media platforms. Social media platforms allow users to form virtual communities based on personal and professional interests. Social media has different building blocks and different business models leverage upon these building blocks to create value for the larger internet economy. New business models of social commerce are redefining the way entrepreneurship was ever conceptualised. Firms across industries, especially from the marketing functions, are using social media very heavily to reach out and connect with its different stakeholders and co-create value.

The third pillar is the futuristic metaverse ecosystem. This is where Web 3.0 and Social Media converges for creating futuristic personalised experiences of users. Facebook for example, has renamed itself as Meta. Metaverse is futuristic virtual economy that will enable users to engage and transact within the ecosystem, as has been depicted in movies like Ready Player One and Matrix series. Technologies like blockchain, virtual reality and artificial intelligence will converge to provide these personalization and experiences that industries are heavily investing in today. Ecommerce industries, for example, are heavily introducing virtual reality in the consumer purchasing processes. These virtual reality based experiences are glimpses of the metaverse ecosystems that will open up very soon in the next decade. The course will expose learners to how technologies like virtual reality and blockchain help in shaping these ecosystems.
IIT Delhi’s Advanced Certification in Web 3.0, Social Media and Metaverse (W3SMM) explores the convergence of these three platforms to address the manpower needs of the internet economy. Gain invaluable insights into how Web 3.0 is revolutionising the internet, social media is empowering new disruptive business models and the emerging Metaverse is creating digital experiences. It will expose them to how the digital content needs to be designed for better online presence using concepts of human computer interaction. Then learners would learn to convert the website to an e-commerce portal. Further learners would learn to configure product information management in e-commerce. Then learners would learn how the websites can be integrated with web analytics and social media. The teams would create online presence in social media platforms and learn how to run campaigns and promotions. Further they would learn to monitor metrics for business performance on internet ecosystems.
