In an attempt to make payments hassle free and more secure, the Government of India has started initiating the movement towards digital payments using UPI. Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is an innovation introduced to enable and link multiple bank accounts into a single mobile application where ever the mobile number is registered for online transactions (like for validating otp, etc). It facilitates operation by merging banking transactions, seamless fund routing, balance querying and merchant payments into an application enabled through a PIN. It also addresses the requirements surrounding “Peer to Peer” payment requests which can be scheduled and paid as per requirement and convenience.
